Introduction to the Residence Pass-Talent

Introduced in April 2011 together with the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA) and the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM), the Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T) is a 10-year renewable visa for highly skilled expatriate talent seeking to contribute to Malaysia's economy on a longer-term basis.

The RP-T is under the purview of Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), an agency under the Ministry of Human Resources (MOHR) that works to attract, nurture and retain the right talent and expertise to support Malaysia's journey towards greater economic progress.

Over the years, the RP-T has approved talented and highly skilled applicants from diverse backgrounds and experience, including: Oil, Gas and Energy (OGE); Information and Communication Technology (ICT); Financial Services; Education; and Business Services.
 
Since its introduction, the RP-T has successfully facilitated many high-value expatriate professionals including C-suite executives, business leaders, and technical specialists.
BENEFITS OF THE RP-T
Ability to live and work in West Malaysia for up to 10 years.
Flexibility to change employers without having to renew the pass.
Spouse* and children under 18 years old are eligible for the RP-T dependent pass.
Dependents over 18 years old, parents and parents-in-law are eligible for a renewable one-year Social Visit Pass for up to five years.
Spouse* can seek also employment without the need to apply for an Employment Pass.
Spouse* and children under 18 years old are also eligible to study in Malaysia. This is only applicable to children under 18 years who are pursuing their primary/secondary education in Malaysia (higher/tertiary education is not included).
*Spouse refers to a legally married spouse according to the Malaysian Government’s law.
