IMPLEMENTATION OF EXIT CLEARANCE FOR EXPIRED RESIDENCE PASS–TALENT (RP-T) HOLDERS EFFECTIVE 18 NOVEMBER 2025

14 November 2025

In line with the directive from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA), the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) now requires all RP-T holders, including their dependents, to complete a Pass Shortening process prior to their permanent departure from Malaysia.

Please take note of the following procedures before leaving Malaysia:

  1. Submit a Pass Shortening Application via the RP-T system under the "Sub-Product" tab.
  2. Upon approval, a Shorten Pass Slip will be issued and made available for download from the RP-T system.
  3. RP-T holders must ensure that the Shorten Pass Slip is kept in their possession throughout the departure process and presented upon request.

Exit Clearance for Expired RP-T Holders

Effective 18 November 2025, if no renewal or pass-shortening application is submitted after the pass expiry date, RP-T holders will be required to update their Exit Clearance status via the RP-T system.

The system will send an automated email notification within one month of the pass expiry date, prompting RP-T holders to update their Exit Clearance Status under the Update Details section.

Failure to comply within one month of the notification may result in the deactivation of the RP-T account.

Please note that this arrangement shall remain in effect, subject to further instructions or an official directive from the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM).
