SINGLE ENTRY VISA FOR CHINESE AND INDIAN NATIONALITY

6 December 2023

Dear Valued Clients,

Following the recent Government announcement on the Single-Entry Visa (SEV) exemption for Chinese and Indian nationals, please be informed that this exemption only applies to tourist visas and does not extend to Expatriate employment-related passes e.g Employment Pass, Professional Visit Pass (PVP), Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T), Dependant Pass, and Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LT-SVP).

Chinese and Indian nationals who intend to enter Malaysia for the purpose of employment must obtain SEV, hence there are no changes to the process for applying for a visa to enter Malaysia. To obtain the visa, the applicant is to apply through the MYVisa system (eVISA) upon receiving an Approval Letter at Official Malaysia Visa - EVisa

Failure to obtain the SEV before entering Malaysia may result in unsuccessful endorsement of the long-term employment-related passes.

Important Note:

a) Please ensure to apply for SEV for the approved long-term employment-related passes listed below:

  • Employment Pass (EP) (Category I, II and III)
  • Professional Visit Pass (PVP)
  • Residence Pass-Talent (RP-T)
  • Dependant Pass (DP)
  • Long-Term Social Visit Pass (LT-SVP)

b) Other eVISA selections, such as the Student Pass or Social Visit Pass (Tourist) are not convertible
to any of the long-term passes mentioned above.
